Established in 2020 by Tel Aviv native Dana Harel (1970), White Dirt is a multidisciplinary studio based in San Francisco. Harel, with a background in architecture and over two decades of art practice, envisions White Dirt as a bridge between everyday functionality and artistic allure. White Dirt seamlessly melds the worlds of design and art, utilizing elemental materials such as paper, brass, porcelain, and plaster. The materials' raw essence is accentuated, embodying a philosophy of metamorphosis within their forms. The studio's ethos revolves around weaving vernacular and contemporary design facets into poetic yet functional sculptures. With White Dirt, Dana Harel aims to invite individuals to engage into an almost theatrical play with objects that embody beauty, functionality, and a profound narrative.
